PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE:

What another fantastic year at General Gordon. It is time now to say goodbye to staff and students who will be leaving the school. We will miss our Grade 7 graduates who are moving on to new adventures in their secondary schools. Good luck Grade 7’s: We have appreciated your unique and special personalities and wish you well. Keep in touch and let us know about your experiences in High School. To our students who are transferring to new schools, we wish you and your families all the best.

June is also time to say goodbye to staff who will be leaving us. We say goodbye to them as some of them will be moving on to other schools in our district. We will miss them and wish them all the best in their future. To Aman Kang, Michelle Catlin, Katie Wilson, Deanna Barreira, Renee Unruh and Pierrot Muguruka we wish you well in your new schools. To Nathalie Menard who will be on leave until December we wish you all the best wishes for relaxation and new adventures.

SCHOOL ORGANIZATION 2015-2016:

Thank you to everyone for their feedback regarding your children and classes. Teachers spend a long time with thoughtful input and care to place your children. We will try to accommodate all your wishes but cannot guarantee them. Numbers may change throughout the summer and reorganization can occur. Know that we will do the best to place all children in a positive learning environment with their peers.

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER:

The first day of school in September is Tuesday, September 8, 2015. The students will come for one hour that day from 8:45-9:45am at the main and 9:00-10:00 at the annex. Regular hours of school starting Wednesday will be 8:45-2:45pm at the main school and 9:00-3:00 for grades 1-2 at the annex. Please note there will be no buses running on Tuesday, please make alternative transportation arrangements to and from school.

GORDON SCHOOL CALENDAR FOR NEXT YEAR:

The Gordon School Calendar is on the website at School_Calendar_2015-16 and shows all the holidays, professional days, district closure days and goal-setting dates. If you would like a hard copy please get one from the office.

THANK YOU TO OUR OFFICE ADMINISTRATORS:

The staff, students and parents would like to thank Renee Unruh and Heidi Leung for all their work this year. They are the first staff that visitors see when they come to our school. Their kind, caring and organized demeanour have parents excited to bring their children to our school, have students able to come into the office to get help for injuries or sickness, have teachers and staff able to ask for help and answer any questions that come their way. As a principal I could not do my job successfully without them. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

THANK YOU TO OUR PARENT COMMUNITY:

The staff would like to thank the parents in our community for all the support and encouragement they have given us over the year: The PAC executive, the class reps, the parents helping out in classrooms or volunteering on field trips, the parent gardeners, our partners for inclusive education, the School Planning Council, our Bike-a-Thon coordinators, our Quebec organizers, and the direct donation that helps out with technology and sports. The wonderful part of being in the Gordon Community is how we all get involved and work together to make this a vibrant and exciting place to learn and have fun.

BUS TRANSPORTATION FOR NEXT YEAR-deadline extended until June 25

A notice will be attached to this newsletter. This is not a first come, first serve situation. We are asking that all the forms be in to our office by June 25th. They can be given to Heidi in the office. We will let you know on the first day of school what bus your children will be on. In September there will be a Code of Conduct Contract that every student will need to sign.
