RUNNING CLUB AT QEA

Our wonderful coaches Willa, Astrid and Ms. Hargrave will have a “Run Club” again this year at QEA and all students can participate. Other teachers will also be participating and we welcome parent helpers. The practices start on Monday, April 4th and will run until the last week of May. Runners will practice running, stretching, self-motivation, sportsmanship and so much more! The practices will be on Monday and Wednesday morning, 8:15-8:55. Meet in the undercover area for the first week.
For the safety of everyone, students must all be accompanied by an adult. You can either stay onside with your child during the practices, or organize to have another parent watch over your child.

Wear your best running shoes and see you Monday for our first practice!

DRESS UP LIKE AN ANIMAL DAY – SPIRIT DAY #3

Have you always wanted to be a bear? A cat, a dog or a mouse? This is your chance. Come dressed in your best “animal costume” on Wed. April. 13, 2016.

EARTHQUAKE PRACTICE ON MAY 5, 2016

On Thursday, May 5, 2016 at 2pm there will be a district wide earthquake practice. All children and staff will participate in this exercise.

At the Annex there will be a FULL STUDENT RELEASE. We have not decided if we will do a release at the Main school – stay tuned.

If you have a child at the Annex you MUST make arrangements to have your child(ren) picked up at 14:15 on May 5, 2016.

**Students will only be released to parents and/or alternatives listed on the emergency information forms you provide to the school. These are the ONLY people who will be allowed to sign for the release of a student in an emergency situation (and on the day of the drill). If this information needs to be updated please EMAIL Heidi at haleung@vsb.bc.ca today.

DONATION FOR SYRIAN REFUGEES

One of our Kindergarten students, Mari has been involved in collecting donations for Syrian refugees. She will visit the classes at QEA and explain why she decided to participate in the project. She has already donated 15 bags to the Immigrant Services Society of BC. Well done Mari! If you would like to donate please bring your donations to the Annex location. There is a box in the hall near the main office. Donations will be accepted until April 14.

Requested items are: Lipton Tea, Olive Oil, Sugar, Basmati Rice, small bottles of honey, Instant Coffee, Magi Cubs and Grocery store gift cards.

Thank you so much for your consideration. If anyone has questions about Mari’s giving project please email her mom at info@sabrinafurminger.com

FSA’S

If your child took the FSA test (Gr. 4 or Gr. 7’s) and you would like to see their results please send a message to either Ms. Davidson mdavidson@vsb.bc.ca or Heidi haleung@vsb.bc.ca authorizing us to release the booklet to your child.

CLASS PHOTO FORMS

We have sent the forms home with the Main students this week. Annex students will get theirs the week of April 4. If you would like your child to buy a class photo please send $7 cash or cheque only in the envelope on the day of the photos to the school. The child then presents this to the photographer at the time of the photo.

PIZZA SALES

Pizza will be sold in the lunch room on Fridays.  This is a fundraising effort for the Grade 7’s Quebec trip. They will sell until they run out - hopefully they will have enough pizza for everyone, but they don’t know how popular it will be, so please pack food with your child so no one goes hungry. There are no order forms, cash only. $3 one slice, $5 for two, plain cheese pizza and pepperoni.
