SUMMER SHE SQUAD GIRLS

Calling all girls aged 10-14. Kitsilano Neighbourhood House is running a 2 weeks summer camp just for you! Cost is $200 for 2 weeks. Have fun with your friends in your neighbourhood this summer. Email dianep@kitshouse.org for more information. Summer She Squad

VOLUNTEER TEA

Have you driven the kids to a field trip or sports event this year? Helped out in the classroom, library or other parts of the school? Donated your time with planning school or class events, then this event is for us to THANK YOU for your help. Please come from 9 – 10:30am to the Q.E. Annex and join us for some beverages and treats. We would love you to join us. Please RSVP to Heidi by May 18 @ haleung@vsb.bc.ca This is open to all who have volunteered in any way during the school year!

NEWS FROM GORDON AT THE ANNEX SITE

SPORTS DAY AT THE ANNEX

Gordon students at the Annex will have an afternoon of fun and sports on Wednesday May 25th. They will rotate through stations with their classmates and will be assigned a colour to wear closer to the date. Please join us for some fun at 14:30 for the grade run races. Bring on your sunscreen, hat and water bottle!”  Please contact PAC if you are able to volunteer.

Bike to School Week

Get your wheels out, summer is here! We have signed up our school for Bike to School Week again this year. Even though students are encouraged to bike, roll or skate to school every day of the year for healthy habits, they are particularly encouraged to do so during this week. Bike to School week is an event run by HUB and will be between May 30th - June 3rd this year. Want to get some tips about biking? Lost and Found at the Annex

We have a large collection of clothing items in our bins by the French library. Please come by for a look regularly. All items left by May 31st will be donated to the Salvation Army. 

SUMMER GYMNASTIC CAMPS JULY 2016

Kitsilano Gymnastics Club will be offering Summer Camp programs at Lord Tennyson Elementary. Apart from gymnastics our program includes team sports, movie afternoon, social games and some arts & crafts, field trip:

  • Monday – Gymnastics & Movie
  • Tuesday - Gymnastics & Kitsilano Swimming Pool
  • Wednesday - Field trip to Vancouver Aquarium
  • Thursday - Gymnastics & Outdoor team games and water park
  • Friday - Gymnastics & Group games and sports at the Locarno beach
  • Cost is 200 + GST for the full day 9-2:30 (plus $10 Gymnastics BC insurance); Half-Day 185 + GST
  • (plus $10 Gymnastics BC insurance); Ages 5-12. Drop-ins welcome at $45 per day. Registration is per week basis: Week 1 – July 4-8; Week 2 – July 11-15; Week 4-July 25-29

Social Media Education and Awareness

Social media and mobile communications have changed our world and the way our children communicate and socialize - are you keeping up with the changing technology? Are you comfortable parenting in the age of online communication?

 

The Kitsilano PAC is excited to have renowned social media expert and speaker Jesse Miller of Mediated Reality (www.mediatedreality.com) present to parents about the realities facing youth as they become social media users; what kids are really doing on-line and how parents can help keep their children safe. Jesse's presentation will be followed by a question and answer period.

 

Date: Wednesday, May 18th
Time: 7:00 - 8:30PM
Place: Kitsilano Secondary School Gym
Cost: $ 10 at the door

We welcome all Kitsilano parents and parents from surrounding schools to join us for this very important event.

TRACK AND FIELD

Junior practices (Gr. 3-5) are at Tuesday at lunch time and Wednesday’s after school. Senior practices (Gr. 6-7) are Wed. after school and Thursday at lunch time. All are welcome to join, please come and see Mr. Patrick if you have not already signed up. Extra registrations forms are available in the office.

 

Mini-Meets @ Queen Elizabeth School from 3:15-5pm aprox.

Juniors – Wed. May 18. Seniors – Mon. May. 16

 

Finals @ Point Grey Secondary – Juniors Thur. May 26 from 8:30 – 12:30am (drivers & athletes to meet at the portables at 8am to arrange carpool rides, or carpool from Kits to Point Grey Sec. by 8:15am)

Seniors – Thur. May 26 1-3:30pm (drivers & athletes meet in the gym at 12:15pm)

GR. 6 IMMUNIZATION CATCH UP

**Change of Date ** - From May 19 which is Sports Day to Friday, June 10. Please mark your calendars accordingly.

VSB Summer School

Summer School registration opens on May 2. Go to summer.vsb.bc.ca to find out more and book your child into some great programs.

PIZZA SALES

Pizza will be sold in the lunch room on Fridays.  This is a fundraising effort for the Grade 7’s Quebec trip. They will sell until they run out - hopefully they will have enough pizza for everyone, but they don’t know how popular it will be, so please pack food with your child so no one goes hungry. There are no order forms, cash only. $3 one slice, $5 for two, plain cheese pizza and pepperoni.

Bike-A-Thon - 29 May (2-5pm)

This is a friendly reminder that this year’s Bike-A-Thon will be taking place on Sunday 29 May from 2-5pm at QE Annex (4275 Crown St). Please note that the website is now live and it is possible to register participants, sponsor cyclists and sign up for volunteering. Please see details on the following website link.

Spring Plant Sale Fundraiser
